September Studio Notes: Cowboys, Color, & Curiosity
September has been a whirlwind—equal parts paint splatters, gallery walls, and one very sassy cowboy hat. Let’s catch up, shall we?
Art Machine Gallery
Yesterday I packed up my wall at Art Machine Gallery in Houston, marking the end of my time there. That 8x8 space was my little playground for bold color and curious shapes, and I loved watching people stop, lean in, and connect with my work. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye, but I’m grateful for the experience—and excited about what’s next.
Fresh Paintings (and a Dog Supervisor)
Back in the studio, I’ve been at it with new work—playful abstracts, experimental faces, and of course, cowboys. Bella (my furry studio assistant) supervises with the seriousness of a drill sergeant, though she mostly just naps through my breakthroughs.
Solo Show: Color & Curiosity
Meanwhile, Color & Curiosity—my solo show at the Arts Center of Brazos Valley—is in full swing. It’s been such a joy seeing people wander through the work. The show runs through October 4, so if you’re in Bryan/College Station, swing by and let the colors do the talking.
Hatitude Rides Off into the Sunset
Big News: Hatitude, a 20x16 cowboy painting, has officially sold! Turns out that oversized hat and oversized attitude were irresistible. I’ll miss seeing him around the studio, but I love knowing he’s out there swaggering on someone else’s wall now.
Thrifted Treasure
Because art isn’t the only thing that brings me joy, I have to share my latest thrifting score: These moody purple bottles. I don’t know if they’ll end up inspiring a painting, starring in a still life, or just sitting there being fabulous—but honestly, who doesn’t need a little extra drama in glass form?
Until Next Time
So that’s the September scoop: art moving out, art moving in, and plenty more on the easel. I’ll keep the updates (and the paint splatters) coming.
