Welcome to Creative Tangent

I was on my way to finish a painting. Then I picked up a sponge. Then I started layering orange on top of teal. Then I remembered I was supposed to write this blog post.

Welcome to Creative Tangent—a little corner of the internet where projects multiply, paint ends up in the weird places, and the best ideas show up when I’m not looking for them.

I’m Kay, an abstract mixed media artist based in Texas, and I’ve got a studio full of color, chaos, ceramic noses, and too many brushes (but not really). I paint, I play, I start things I don’t always finish. And somewhere in all that joyful mess, I make art that makes me feel more alive—and hopefully makes you smile, too.

This blog is part studio journal, part creative playground, and part confessional for the beautifully imperfect process of being a working artist. I’ll be sharing what I’m painting, what I’m reworking, what I’m procrastinating on, and what I’ve learned along the way. So if you’re into bold color, honest reflections, paint-splattered wisdom, and the occasional detour—I’m glad you’re here.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go paint the edges of something. Our glue a ceramic face to a canvas. Or write a to-do list I probably won’t follow.

Either way…welcome to the tangent!

A blog about art, attitude, and unfinished projects.
